Lesson 1
- How to turn - vision to practice and become a natural reflex.
- look at the turn, far into the turn
- if you stare at the thing, you tend to go towards them
- turn the head, instead turn the eyes, like a battle tank
- to know if the lane to turn to if there are reversed lanes, blocked by constructions, parked cars, etc - even when stopped at the red light, you should look at the direction turning to first.
- How to adjust your speed when turning
- break before the turn, release in the turn, accelerate after the turn, depending on how tight the turn is and your speed of entering the turn.
- 90 degree turn, need to brake - 20 km/h when turning left (wider - 30 km/h), and 15 km/h when turning right
- don't check the speedometer too long - quick glances
- When turning, accelerators help the steering turn back automatically - release
- the hands don't cross when steering and ideally sticking to the steering wheel to not go under the horizontal line - use one hand
- Exam - auto transmission using coach's car
- Always stop at stop sign
Lesson 2
- Start car - with the hand brake lifted
- foot on the brake, turn on the car, drop the hand brake, change the transmission from park to drive
- adjust the mirror, for the handle of the rear door
- standing start
- stop sign (if blocked look for the white line), red light, with pedestrians.
- rolling start
- no stop sign
- turn right with standing start
- before changing lanes turning light, check the mirror (usually), sign, shoulder check (see through the rear window at the turning side), turn
- stop before entering, check whether there is pedestrians
- and turn a bit right and drive out if the view if not clear stop again to wait for a safe gap, and then turn and accelerate to drive out of the intersection.
- turn left at an intersection in the city without traffic light, need to drive out a bit to
- turning left light, left mirror, left shoulder check
- stop at the left side of the divided road on the right
- drive out a bit to stop until there's a safe gap
- drive out a bit to turn to avoid blocking the car driving out from the left.
- turn left at a traffic light
- you can usually immediately turn left.
- when stopped behind a car, you need to be able to see the rear tires of the front car.
- exercise for body balance.
- regularly check the rearview mirror every 8 seconds while driving
- making sure not taking the reserved lane usually with a wider solid white line.
- closer to the curb
- reverse gear and turn right
Then Class 5
- can take unlimited passengers.
Lesson 3
- when parking on a hill, facing downside,
- steer quickly and brake more
- turn left and turn right when ending
- Pullover
- first right then left
- Parallel parking
- half car, and then reverse
- three-point turn
- stall parking
- check the reverse view
Lesson 4
- one hand on the upper steering wheel always
- Regulation unit 3-4
Lesson 5
- resumed first
- stop for 1-2 seconds
- keep scanning the road
- change the speed not the lane when someone cut in
- Turn Left (TPL) - focus on pedestrian (when the pedestrian cleared the road, still can be unpredictable), oncoming traffic (right turn first, like truck), light
- one car allowed at the intersection only
- check the blind spot
- lanes - the one closet to the island, far left
- Turn right at red light
- Step 1 - completed a full stop before the double line
- Step 2 - look left and right for pedestrians
- Step 3 - Yield to the cars from the left side
- Step 4 - shoulder check right side
- Step 5 - Look at your target St and complete your turn
- watch out for left turners (make wide turns) thus you have to yield.
- watch out for car from the left in the far left lane that may change lanes to the first available lane which is also your target lane to turn to
- almost the right the lane (first available)
- do the verification before the turning (bicyclist).
- cannot turn in front of a bus.
- change lanes early
- Turn right at green light, only need to field for the pedestrians on the right side
- turn right at major intersection (green light), yield to the pedestrian on the right
- turn right at small intersection (no stop sign), yield to pedestrian on the right
- Turn left at major intersections on green lights
- yield to ongoing traffics (like large truck left turners blocking views)
- yield to pedestrians on the left
- pay attention to the change of the light
- Turn left at small intersections
- yield to oncoming traffics (straight and right turners)
- yield to pedestrians
Lesson 6
- ON, Start Engine
- Brake Light automatic
- turn left and right when the side mirror passed the intersection or stop line, at the straighten at 60% of the turn
- often look at far, and side eye the two hands to keep in your lane
- seat spacious enough to switch your brake and accelerator
- 360 view anytime when you reverse
- it's okay if you didn't park straight or close enough to the curb, you can try twice
- turn the steer and only straighten the steer when reaching the appropriate
- when parked use side mirror to align with the curb so that it's not close enough
- parallel park reverse to use the back tri-angle window to reach the end of the car and then turn, it won't
- when parallel park front, use the side bar between the windows passing the front of the other car as mark to enter the road ahead without touching the parked car, important for right turns so as not to block the car.
- definitely mind the stop sign
- review the Unit 3 of drive smart
- 4 more lessons before test
